Epic Humanitarian World Tour on Menstrual Hygiene

Miss World CEO and founder of Beauty With A Purpose, Julia Morley, will join the new Miss World 2017, Manushi Chhillar, Miss World 2016 Stephanie Del Valle and the 6 Miss World 2017 Continental winners for the start off on an epic “Humanitarian World Tour”.

Manushi Chhillar is an advocate for making Menstrual Hygiene products freely available to all young girls in India. Manushi won the Beauty With A Purpose Award at the Miss World 2017 Final for her Menstrual Hygiene awareness campaign. Manushi and Miss World Organisation will be joining forces with India’s highly acclaimed and globally awarded leader in menstrual hygiene, Aakar Innovations Pvt. Ltd., during February 1st and 8th 2018 to create awareness amongst these young girls and to dispel the myths & taboos that surround feminine hygiene.

MORE THAN ~70% OF INDIAN WOMEN RELY ON OLD RAGS, PLASTICS, SAND, AND ASH TO MANAGE THEIR MENSTRUAL CYCLE.

Aakar is the only Asian manufacturer of affordable and high-quality sanitary pads from natural fiber that are totally biodegradable and ~100% compostable, thus a shining example of menstrual hygiene and health, besides protecting the environment. Aakar products represent an innovative technology that empowers women and girls to make informed choices and enabling them to take charge of their own socio-economic development. Aakar trains uneducated, unskilled and marginalised women and girls to create sustainable livelihood enterprises by setting up sanitary pads manufacturing units with multilateral organizations, NGOs, institutions, self-help groups, state governments in India, and even in South Asia and Africa.

Anandi pads produced by Aakar on Padman’s inspired technology is India’s 1st ~100% Compostable pads (2 patents) which are an affordable environment-friendly product.

Miss World entourage, with Aakar, is proud to host events in Kolkata and Siliguri to demonstrate their work with the first sanitary pad made from Jute fiber, along with highlighting menstrual hygiene challenges in tea gardens. In Delhi, the Miss World - Aakar team will meet and address New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) school children, further interact with Media and announce about the collaboration with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). Several allied organisations including multilateral agencies, institutions, and Government departments will also join the discussion on different aspects for normalizing menstruation.

We invite you to join forces with Aakar Innovations and Miss World Organization to break the silence on Menstrual Hygiene & Health, to heighten awareness to all women and girls in India.
